![]() 3 Mini Stories about what happened in May 2012 and my final thoughts on Peer Pressure. 1-A Story about YOU...I visited the Holocaust Museum in Skokie, IL. There were many stories as told by survivors and here is one of them. They knew they were going to die. They were humiliated and now they stood waiting for their turn to be executed. A man heard the man next to him thanking God, so he asked, "Why are you thanking God?" The second man replied, "I'm thanking God that He didn't make me like them." Are you thankful for YOU...no matter the circumstance? LOVE. 2-"They/Them" and the pressure to be like them...The thoughtlessness still exists today within people; it's just harder to spot. There are those who claim to stand for goodness, yet they don't show it in their actions. I was in a challenging situation this month with a person who skewed information and came at me with a lot of aggression. I've been cursed at, threatened, and still I stood with a peace offering. I can see they are suffering, clouded with anger. And from experience I know when you are angry then you don't listen. As much as I tried to bring peace to the situation the result was the same. I've learned some people will refuse to let go of anger for peace, right now. So I pray for them to find peace. A difference of opinion can in fact exist without seeking to destroy another. As much as this person came at me, I didn't participate in the fighting. And with no fighting I am left unhurt. I am left without regrets or having to clean up a mess. PEACE. 3-The end of my Training. I ran 10 miles in 1:42 and am so proud of myself! HAPPINESS. Final Thoughts: Peer Pressure exists so be aware of your surroundings including work, school, home, and social settings. Pay attention to the people around you and ask yourself if you are staying true to who you are. I can talk about negative peer pressure in all areas of my life, not just as teen but as an adult. Let others huff and puff if they wish, but don't let them knock you down. You can stop this from happening by making the choice to build your own true path. That is why I believe in positive peer pressure by being someone who influences others in a positive way. If others choose to copy me then I will feel good about being an example to others. If I am talking to a child about sharing, forgiveness, and respect then you better believe I will share. I will forgive. I will respect. So my positive peer pressure is Be your best self so others feel pressure to do the same....and hopefully we can all be our best selves.
